What is life without salad?
HIPSTER JAPANESE CAFE.
After watching the Kichi Kichi Omu Rice video and the recent craze for poke bowl locally, I just have to pay FIVE-HT a visit. They just know my weakness! Silky egg, wagyu, truffle, sashimi, avocado, creative coffee concoction and many more!
Five-HT (5-HT) is an abbreviation for 5-hydroxytryptamine (a.k.a neutotransmitter serotonin). 5-HT is used for insomnia, depression, anxiety, migrane, obesity, attention deficit, etc. So what is the name of this restaurant suggesting? It's a place for your happy meal! Very big claim.
It's a cosy little cafe with interesting coffee choices and good food list. They just know how to pick the food, somehow! All they need is some good dessert.
For the benefit of those who don't know what a poke bowl is or those who wonder what is the difference between a chirashi don and a poke bowl.
Chirashi means "scatter", is a bowl of rice that is usually topped with vegetables and a variety of raw sliced or diced fish in Japanese cuisine. Fine dining would call it deconstructed sushi. Poke means "to slice or cut", is a raw fish salad served as an appetiser in Hawaiian cuisine. So sashimi in chirashi will come fresh, but those in a poke bowl are marinated in some refreshing dressing.
All the dishes I tried are flavourful, except for the yuzu crepe.
Quality food but that does not justify the steep pricing.
Portion is a tad small.
Oh! and the miso soup that comes with the dish is good.
Poke bowl, well balanced. Wagyu don, one of the best I had in KL. Salmon mentaiko, very tasty and too little salmon. Cold udon, it will surprise your tastebuds!
